The upcoming PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2022 has raised the hopes of Indian fans again of seeing their favorite Battlegrounds Mobile India squads back in action. Till now, Tencent did not allocate a slot in the championship to any BGMI team. This is itself an indication that there is little chance for Indian squads to get a slot at PMGC.
The game's Esports ecosystem has faced a lot of obstacles since the Battlegrounds Mobile India ban. Though the fans have witnessed two BGMI teams, Team Soul and 7SEA, at PUBG Mobile World Invitational (PMWI) 2022 events, the title's competitive scene has virtually come to a halt.
At PMGC 2021, Krafton gave Godlike Esports the Grand Finals slot after their stellar showing at BGIS (Battlegrounds Mobile India Series) 2021, where the team ended up securing fourth place. Unlike the 2021 edition, Krafton has not yet made any declarations about the next PUBG Mobile Global Championship. So, for now the chances of an invitation for any Indian team seems to be low.
PMGC 2022 consists of 48 team slots for the League Stage, whereas the Grand Finals will feature 16 teams. Tencent has disclosed the qualification process for 46 slots in the preliminary stage. Also, 15 teams will get qualified for the Grand Finals after competing in the League. Two places have not been announced for the League stage, while one slot is vacant for the Grand Finals.

It is quite normal to expect updates on the invitation to PUBG Mobile Global Championship in the coming days as the Grand Finals will be held in January 2023. The absence of BGMI tournaments symbolizes worries for the game's Esports fans as such events usually become the basis of invitations to global championships.
Though it is uncertain whether Indian teams belonging to BGMI will be invited to PMGC 2022, one should keep in mind the case of PMWI 2022, where two Indian teams were invited despite the ban. Therefore, it is advised that fans should not get disheartened and rather wait for a response from Krafton or Tencent.
BGMI received a ban in India and the reason being security and privacy concerns. The Government of India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology acted in adherence to Section 69A of the Information Technology Act and banned the Indian version of PUBG Mobile.
But, since the initial response from Krafton thanking Indian fans for their immense support, fans haven't received an update about the ban's repeal in India.
