There's good news provided by Valve for Steam Deck owners who don't know what to do if they break their precious portable gaming machines. So, now Official Steam Deck repair centers have opened.
Valve said if anybody encounters a problem and needs to send Steam Deck for repair or replacement, then devices will now go to one of their repair centers. Their team will diagnose the device and will repair if needed and then ship the fixed unit back to the user.
The repairs having a warranty are free of charge. If a Steam Deck comes in which is not covered by warranty, then their team will ask for a fee in return of the service they will render and if you want you can even take back your device.
Valve showed various scenarios where Steam Deck owners might find themselves illustrate the things that are covered under warranty like intermittent button problems which would be diagnosed, fixed, tested and shipped back without any cost but if the things are already in a worst condition, then they will be sent to you and you have to pay for it.
For people who prefer the DIY approach, Valve said that iFixit continues to offer replacement parts, repair kits, and guides. For few Steam Deck owners, that will be the avenue of choice. As in case of a Steam Deck-owning person who recently raved about the unit's ease of access and use of standard components that makes it easy to swap parts around. Reportedly, he is the kind of person who gets his hands on expensive pieces of equipment and immediately tears apart to see how he can make them better, so he knows about such things.
Valve said that they are happy to get this service up and running. They also added, most of the people won't need to use it but for those who do, they will make sure that things are taken care of properly.
So, if you have a Steam Deck that requires assistance and want to take advantage of Valve's repair centers, you can start the wheels turning by contacting Steam Support.
