Apple just unveiled the 14 and 14 Pro line of iPhones. The models themselves have not undergone many visible modifications, but there have been numerous other adjustments.

The sensor notch at the top of the screen, one of the most recognisable features of mobile devices, has been redesign by the firm. Additionally, a fantastic safety feature called Emergency SOS via satellite has been added.

1. Satellite connectivity

Users of the iPhone 14 will be able to make calls in an emergency without WiFi or cellular coverage. A satellite network connection will be possible for the phone. Users only need to point at the satellite, and it will follow that direction thanks to the equipment.

It will also be possible to text SOS services using this functionality. Users can also get in touch with loved ones even when they are outside of cellular range. Customers who purchase an iPhone 14 will receive two years of free service, but only in the US and Canada.

2. Always-On Display

A highly anticipated innovation for the iPhone 14 Pro is the Always-On Display. The addition of the feature to the upcoming iPhone generation was allegedly the subject of numerous rumours. Sadly, it is only available in the Pro model. In order to turn down the display and conserve power, the proximity sensor detects if the iPhone is upright or in a pocket. From the options, this feature can be fully disabled.

3. Crash detection

All the new iPhone models have a new "high dynamic range" gyro and "high-g" accelerometer. Now that the user has been in a crash, the device can recognise it and will instantly contact emergency personnel. When the user is unable to physically make a call, this will be especially helpful. Siri will ask the user to call someone. A call will be placed if the user doesn't answer. Some information obtained from onboard sensors is also used by the crash detection feature. These include sudden directional changes, speed changes, pressure fluctuations inside the cabin, and excessive noise levels.

4. No SIM card slot

Apple has a reputation for influencing technological advancements, such as the elimination of the headphone connector. The company has now completely removed the SIM card slot. It claims this is a security feature since the SIM card can no longer be stolen.

According to Apple, eSIM, short for "embedded SIM," is the way forward. It does not require a physical SIM. Although eSIM is a feature that has been seen in previous models, this is the first time that a physical slot will be missing from a device. This is only applicable for iPhones that are sold in the US for now.

5. Improved camera

Moreover, a 2x telephoto lens is available. It sports a 48mm focal length with 3x telephoto and 0.5x ultra-wide zoom settings. The camera is capable of 24 or 30 FPS 4K HDR video capture. Additionally, a new "Action Mode" that steadies handheld video capture significantly decreases shaking in recordings. The flash has also undergone redesigning and is now known as the "TrueTone" flash with 9 LEDs. Depending on the focal length and composition, its pattern and intensity can be changed.

6. Dynamic Island

The notch on the iPhone 14 Pro is now referred to as Dynamic Island. The camera, ambient light sensor, FaceID sensor, and other sensors will be located in the pill-shaped cutout at the top of the display.

The software has skillfully included the cutaway. It will appear as though there is no notch because the empty space will mix in with notification alerts, music controls, and turn-by-turn directions.
