After years of requests from the Twitter community for introducing an ‘Edit button’ on the platform, it seems the calls will be answered soon. Twitter has finally confirmed that an edit button is on its way which will help users to change or correct the contents of tweets. The functionality is now being tested internally, and later this month; Twitter Blue subscribers will be able to use ‘Edit Tweet.’

Twitter's official account tweeted out that the developers are testing the Edit button. Leading users pleaded with the developers to grant them the ability to edit the contents of their postings as the social media site previously teased the feature. The social media platform will be able to address this and other potential issues with its system by adding an Edit button.

“With Edit Tweet, we’re hoping to make Tweezing easier and more approachable, giving people more choice and control in how they express themselves and how they contribute to the many conversations happening on Twitter,” the company wrote in a blog post.

An Edit button has been available for a very long time on several well-known social networking sites, including Facebook and Instagram. As a result, Twitter was at a disadvantage. Users would have to delete inaccurate tweets because the microblogging platform does not have an Edit capability. The Edit button's official debut date has not yet been announced by Twitter. Users can anticipate it to launch on Twitter by the end of Q4 2022, despite the fact that it is currently in the testing stage.

Some of the features of the Edit button have been described by the platform. Only Twitter Blue subscribers will have access to it initially, and they will only be allowed to alter the text of their tweets within the first 30 minutes of publishing them. As opposed to being a feature that is only available to those who are ready to pay for the privilege, only in those countries where Twitter has launched its paid tier; this could indicate that Twitter may make it more widely available over time.
