Some says that Sony PlayStation 5 models have hit retailers in Australia. But the only difference that can be seen now is the weight reduction. The Sony PlayStation 5 CFI-1202A (with ODD) and PlayStation 5 CFI-1202B (Digital) are 300g and 200g lighter than the current revisions.

A year before, Sony quietly revised PlayStation 5 hardware to give out 300g lighter consoles. As per 2021 report, Sony had been trying its best to reduce the weight. A YouTuber has opened up a device and observed that the heatsink had been reduced in size and weight. This definitely saved the cost to a great extent but only a 3 to 5 degrees Celsius higher system temperature for the new model was seen. 

This time the ODD console has been reduced in weight almost by 100g more than the Digital version and there might be some clues to believe it. But after coming across several bare slimline style ODDs that weighs around 150g, it is hardly likely that Sony has reduced this component's weight by such a degree.  

PS5 console weight reduction news is circulating widely along with pricing announcements by Sony distributors all over the world. The US is fortunate enough to swerve the spate of increases. In Australia, these new samples have been seen and there both the models were increased byAUD50 ($35). Sony has solely accused the current economic condition and its effect on SIE'S business to be the reasons behind the price rises. It can be said that for now neither Microsoft nor Nintendo will be following the price hiking example of Sony. 

Hopefully, we will get to know very soon what Sony has done to reduce the weights of the latest PS5 revisions.
