One of the most popular social networking sites in the world, Discord, has managed to enrage a number of users with one of the oddest events of the year. Being banned from the platform is not unheard of, and there are various explanations. But it has now been discovered that individuals are being banned for a very fundamental error: altering their profile images!
Discord has progressively expanded to become a major hub for conversations, discussions, and debates on a global scale. Due to the app's rapid growth since its launch, the platform servers' utilization and genre differ greatly. Due to how simple it is to converse while playing, it is common among gamers.
So @discord has succeeded in disabling my account AGAIN
— Borb_King (@BorbKing) August 27, 2022
I changed my pfp and then I was told to verify my phone number
I verify it, change my pfp again
And then BAM disabled
I sent an appeal
Tried to make an alt account, verified shit, etc
And they disabled my alt too :)
However, this most recent incident will undoubtedly enrage many as they are being blacklisted without any justification. The event initially appeared random, but users soon noticed a pattern. Bans seem to be applied to users who change their profile images. As strange as that may sound, many people have been impacted by it and have used other forums to express their frustration. Mistakenly banning user accounts for updating their profile images on Discord.
Early in August, reports of Discord users having their accounts strangely blocked began to proliferate on social media sites like Twitter. After more examination, it became apparent that the platform is blocking users who frequently change their profile photographs. Even while this prohibition doesn't apply to all actors, there have already been a number of incidents. One user described how their account had once again been disabled.
They were prompted to confirm their account after altering their profile image. However, it was of little use because, much to their annoyance, their accounts were once more disabled. It's unclear why Discord has been banned in the first place. One Twitter user believed it was because of a large update that was implemented earlier on Android. One reason for this situation can be that the framework hasn't been accepted.
Android users: tired of guessing which features are on what platform and which ones are Coming Soon(tm)?

No more! We've rebuilt the app with the React Native dev framework. It's rolling out over the next few weeks: https://t.co/c4ZiSJIFjR pic.twitter.com/7QzinOQR39
The dissatisfaction will grow even greater given there hasn't been any formal acknowledgement from Discord's end as of yet. It's also not clear how many accounts are actually banned without good cause. Before a patch for this issue is made available, users are urged not to update their account profile images. Even if Android users have provided almost all of the reports, it's better to be safe than sorry. Given the platform's size and the regular usage by millions of users, this episode is bound to leave a bad taste in everyone's mouth.
