Amidst the ongoing ESL Dota 2 One 2022 in Malaysia, Nigma Galaxy faced elimination after encountering a 2-0 loss in the lower brackets of the tournament.
After the end of the first half of the tournament, the playoffs of ESL One Malaysia 2022 began yesterday. The Day 1 playoffs showcased a huge fall in the performance of Nigma Galaxy.
The second half of the series hosted a match between Nigma Galaxy & Thunder Awakens. Unfortunately, Nigma was not able to maintain its momentum. Fans were taken aback, as the first-ever round of the elimination series threw them out of the journey.
Surprisingly, the team from South America, Thunder Awakens became the high-class contenders. Their mid-game coordination, rotation, and aggression were impressively strong. Thunder Awaken went 0-4 in the first day of the competition, and when a new patch was dropped in the game, the team adapted immediately. The new range of heroes went on to survive the chaos skilfully.
In the first series, Nigma failed to hold their grounds firmly against Thunder Awakens. The first pick of Winter Wyvern from Thunder Awaken and an early Timbersaw pick led to crushing Nigma Galaxy with numerous team fights and aggression.
In the second match, Thunder Awakens went back for the tried-and-true Wyvern first pick and Timbersaw early phase but then closed things out with a Sven carry. While Nigma looked like their draft was better poised for this match, they really couldn't seem to handle the Sven carry and were just too slow. After a double rampage stunt in the Nigma base, Thunder Awakens sealed the fate of their opponent team with a 2-0 Sweep. Thunder Awakens is yet to play another match against OG in the lower brackets tomorrow at 06:00 CEST.
On the other hand, Nigma retrieves back in the country with a cash prize of only $10,000 ranking at the 8th position. In future, Nigma must exercise improvements in their strategies to stay a little longer in the game tournaments. Thus, helping to make a spot in the international 2022 WEU Qualifiers which is supposed to commence on September 3.
