This year's Gamescom was jam-packed with titles, including Dead Island 2, Dune Awakening, and the eagerly anticipated Hogwarts Legacy. While open-world games appear to be taking centre stage, Moonbreaker, the next game from BGMI creator Krafton, has had a sneak peek.
Moonbreaker is a sci-fi turn-based tabletop RPG that was developed by the same firm that made Subnautica (Unknown Worlds). Players fight in a tiny solar system called Reaches where moons stick to their orbits because of a limited resource called Cinder, as was shown at Gamescom's Opening Night Live showcase.
The future audio dramas, which will be released right before the Early Access launch, will provide players a better understanding of the universe of Moonbreaker and its characters, according to the developers.
A squad of one captain and 10 units, often made up of crew and assist members, must be assembled for Moonbreaker. Players will need to effectively employ their resources, organise their roster, and maximise the map. If you become tired of battling people, Moonbreaker also has offline challenges and a "Cargo Run" mode where players can battle AI foes. To make it feel more like a tangible game, the tabletop RPG gives players the option to paint their miniature models, construct their own roster banners, and use professional digital painting tools. It appears that the game shall get an early access launch with more than 50 units available.
Moonbreaker's creator, Unknown Worlds, claimed that it was influenced by old-school games like XCOM, Hearthstone, and Dungeon & Dragons. On September 29th, Krafton's Moonbreak will go live in early access for PC and Mac through Steam.
