With the competitive scenario of the mobile title of League of Legends: Wild Rift becoming a success after the conclusion of the inaugural season of Wild Rift Esports, developers Riot Games has announced an upcoming invitational tournament. Following the brilliant performance of the top eight teams in Asia on the world stage, a new off-season invitational tournament series titled ‘ Wild Circuit Asia Invitational 2022’ will be organized.
Last month saw the conclusion of the first official Esports season of Wild Rift, known as the Wild Rift Global Icons Championship, with the Chinese team Nova Esports being declared the winners. Riot Games has also announced a ton of fascinating Esports events that fans and competitive teams can look forward to while they wait for the launch of Wild Rift Esports Season 2.
The top eight teams from South-East Asia, Japan, and Korea will compete at the Wild Circuit Asia Invitational in 2022. This tournament is aimed at giving professional teams and teams of all skill levels a platform to demonstrate their abilities in the mobile MOBA area. The ‘Wild Circuit Asia Invitational 2022’ features a prize pool of $40,000 and is scheduled to take place in September 2022. It will start off with teams competing against each other in the group stage and then head to the playoffs. The winner of this tournament series will be awarded prize money of $12,000, whereas $7000 and $6000 are reserved for teams securing 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
“At the 2022 ICONS, teams from Korea, Southeast Asia, and Japan performed well. There were a lot of requests from fans who wanted to see more matches between Asian representatives. To respond to this, Riot Games recruited teams representing Korea, Southeast Asia, and Japan”, Riot said in a statement announcing the competition.
