Arc System Works has proved itself to be one of the top producers of fighting games, thanks to its
work on Guilty Gear, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and Blazblue, but the company is still searching for the
next big smash with a well-known IP.
Minoru Kidooka, CEO of Arc System Works discussed at EVO 2022 how the company is actively
seeking new prospects by getting in touch with IP rights holders rather than waiting for them to
present themselves. Kidooka mentioned in a statement of his, “We need to expand fighting game
communities through IP. are proactively trying to partner with additional IP owners in the future.”
The award-winning Dragon Ball FighterZ, a One Piece game for the 3DS, Persona 4 Arena from 2012,
and Granblue Fantasy Versus from 2020 were all created by Arc. As the firm works on new IP
designed and produced in the US, Kidooka noted that the studio's original Guilty Gear and BlazBlue
titles won't be forgotten, with BlazBlue in particular, having the potential to step outside of the
fighting game genre.
DNF Duel, a new fighting game brand from Arc that combines intense action with a fantastic online
structure, was released this June. Jason Fanelli commented in his review of DNF Duel that System
Works continues to set a high bar for fighting games with DNF Duel, providing an experience that's
both basic enough for novice players and comprehensive enough for veterans of the fighter game
genre. In addition to that game, Arc also revealed that Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions of
Dragon Ball FighterZ with improved graphics will be introduced in a future update.
