Recently, Activision was accused of stealing an artist's ideas for the Floof Fury Warzone skin. Now that the makers have acknowledged their error, the skin has been taken out of the game.
In order to improve the in-game aesthetics, Call of Duty: Warzone has always encouraged ambitious crossovers. T-800 and T-1000 Terminator operator skins debuted in Season 4 Reloaded. Season 3 of Warzone saw the addition of operator skins for Godzilla and King Kong.
The Season 4 Reloaded update was originally supposed to include a Samoyed skin, however, Activision received criticism for stealing the skin from an artist named Sailin. Eventually, an Activision representative came forth and acknowledged the wrongdoings.
Saillin, a COD participant and artist, charged the Warzone creators for plagiarizing his major artwork that has a resemblance to the Floof Fury warzone skin. According to Saillin, his work was first published on an online website named ArtStation back in 2019. Everything ranging from the clothing, and scarf to the hip bag were all replicas of Saillin's original creations.
The artist wrote in a tweet, “As an individual artist, I can only do so much, and I have to speak out about this to stop this from happening again in the future.”
After hearing a lot of complaints from the community, Activision responded to the allegations, by saying, “We have the utmost respect for creativity and content creation. We love the Loyal Samoyed, but regrettably, we erred in our process and have removed this imagery from the game. We apologize for the misstep.”
Although Activision admitted to its error, Saillin's response to it is still pending as of now. As we think the matter is resolved, there could possibly be a friendly gesture from Saillin.
