As if Stray's adorable, furry protagonist couldn't possibly be any cuter, the game is doing good deeds for cats and other stray animals in the real world. In support of animal shelters and other cat-related organizations, streamers and Annapurna Interactive, the game's publisher, have organized a wide range of events and services, as first reported by AP. 

Before the game's July 19 release, Annapurna contacted the Nebraska Humane Society to offer them copies of the title to raffle off as a means of raising money for the shelter. Over $7,000 was raised for the cause in less than a week, including a $1,035 gift from Annapurna themselves. Most of the people that gave to the refuge were also strangers to them, including video gaming aficionados from other countries.

To create an event where guests could play the game (while being surrounded by cats), Annapurna also hired out a cat café and cat adoption center in New York called the Meow Parlour. The publisher also gave the organization $1,000. The responsibility of helping the world's stray cats has been taken up by gamers as well. 

There are already at least nine new Stray-related initiatives on the Tiltify site, which lets streamers give their revenue to charitable organizations. JustGiving, another charity streaming organization, has found two more. A gaming campaign reportedly brought in over $800 for the no-kill animal rescue and adoption group North Shore Animal League America.

Additionally, a streamer by the name of TreyDay1014 worked with the Nebraska Humane Society to raise almost $1,500 for a four-and-a-half-hour stream. 
Since Stray is an absolutely beautiful and uplifting game, it comes as no surprise that its fanbase has banded together to effect some wonderful real-world change.
