There won't be another Overwatch 2 beta before the game's eventual release on October 4,
according to Blizzard. With two beta tests earlier this year, Overwatch players on PC and
consoles got the chance to try out the game's new 5v5 gameplay, revamps to current
characters, two new heroes, and a variety of planned improvements. A new hero was hinted
just as the second beta was coming close, thus some fans had anticipated a third beta before
the game's release.
Overwatch Commercial Leader and Vice President Jon Spector provided an explanation in a
tweet as to why players will have to wait till the launch in order to play the game once more.
Prior to the launch of Early Access, Jon Spector posted some updates on Overwatch 2's
development on his personal Twitter account. The former Overwatch League Commissioner
acknowledged the interest among fans in learning more about a third beta. Then he said that
the game will not receive a subsequent beta prior to its launch.
According to Spector, Blizzard is satisfied with the information it obtained from the two open
beta tests and is still internally play-testing the game. In light of this, the development team
intends to devote all of its efforts to create the finest game possible before Overwatch 2's
October 4 Early Access launch.
,Although it's terrible that players will have to wait to play Overwatch 2's new ranked mode
and after-action report, it should make the sequel's release have a little more of an effect.
Twitch viewership for both betas significantly declined over time, and some have attributed
this to the absence of a competitive mode and real match stakes. Before the game's release, a
tone of information regarding Overwatch 2 is expected to be made public, including details
on the battle pass and in-game store.
