Silent Hill is a Japanese horror media property centered on a series of survival horror video games conceived by Keiichiro Toyama and produced and released by Konami's subsidiary Konami Digital Entertainment. Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3, and Silent Hill 4: The Room were produced by Team Silent, a development staff within former Konami subsidiary Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo, for the first four video games in the series. Other, usually Western developers created the following six games: Origins, Homecoming, Shattered Memories, Downpour, Book of Memories, and P.T. (a Silent Hills playable teaser). The Silent Hill franchise has grown to include a variety of print works, two feature films, and video game spin-offs. 

Layers of Fear was first released in 2016, and Layers of Fear 2 will be released in 2019. Bloober Team then announced in October 2021 that a completely new Layers of the Fear project was in the works, inviting gamers back into the terrifying psyche of a troubled artist. Bloober Team provided a brief video built in Unreal Engine 5 as part of the announcement; Layers of Fear has never looked so eerily terrifying. There is no word on when this latest project will be released other than in 2022, and the end of the year is swiftly coming, so a release might be on the way.

The most recent teaser comes in the shape of some new artwork, which has a striking resemblance to the original Layers of Fear game's artwork. "Reach beneath the surface and unearth the source of your concerns," adds the caption, implying that this will undoubtedly be another psychological horror nightmare.

In the original game, players would take on the role of a painter who is frantically striving to complete their best painting yet, putting everything else in their life on hold. Meanwhile, the 2019 sequel will focus on a Hollywood star who has been cast to star in a film.
