Do you remember playing Disney-themed kart racing games? Yes, from Mickey’s Speedway USA to Diddy Kong Racing Masters Rare or Toy Story Racer, these games have been a part of the gaming community since the 2000s. Walt Disney World Quest: Magical Racing Tour was one of the earliest games released in the year 2000 by Crystal Dynamics. Following the trend, Disney is going to launch Disney Speedstorm this year, developed by Gameloft.

Disney Speedstorm is an arcade racing game where car handling is going to be easy in comparison to other games like impeccable Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, which fall under the same category. But the game’s main attraction comes from its treasure chest of characters, different worlds, and a range of popular music.

The characters that are created in the game are Hercules, Megara, Baloo, Mowgli, Elizabeth Swann, and Caption Sparrow. The characters will be set in pairs, and such pairs are Bella and the Beast, Mulan and Li Shang, and Mickey and Donald. They will all race in Monster's Inc., Scare Floor, Beast's Enchanted Castle, or Ancient China. Each character is dressed in a funny costume, and each has special powers.

Each character is going to have fixed skills and can be divided into brawlers, tricksters, defenders, or speedsters. Speedsters get a boost from boost pads, tricksters get a boost from drifting, defenders get a boost from slipstreams, and brawlers get a boost from fighting. Hercules can summon Pegasus and have a turbo shot by his magical slipstream, or Bella can summon obstacles to block opponents.

The game will support cross-platform multiplayer to reduce the shortage of opponents. It is free to download and it will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. A mod version is going to be launched on the 8th of June for the players to get a hook into the game.
