Green Hell VR by Incuvo Games was released on Meta Quest 2 in April and quickly became a best-seller. The game, a VR adaptation of Creepy Jar's Green Hell, was praised for its unique and immersive approach to a VR survival experience. The Steam version was delayed so that Incuvo could incorporate feedback, but fans now know when they can try it out.
Green Hell VR will be available on Steam on June 9, according to a new press release from Incuvo. Incuvo Games CEO Andrzej Wychowaniec commented on the decision to split the Quest 2 and Steam releases, saying, "The decision to split the PCVR and Quest launches was right, over these few extra weeks, we managed to polish important elements in the game to make it worth the wait." We appreciate all of the community support, as well as those who have already played Quest 2 and provided feedback - we thank you and hope you enjoy the PCVR version just as much."
Incuvo has released a new story trailer for Green Hell VR to commemorate the game's upcoming release on Steam (as seen below). It tells the story of Jake Higgins, who becomes separated from his wife Mia after becoming stranded in the Amazon Rainforest. Players must survive the environment, predators, and other hazards to reach one of the game's multiple endings.
Green Hell VR for PC also has a larger terrain to explore, higher graphic fidelity, and different UI and mechanics to emphasise the immersive survival experience. Green Hell VR has over 60 mechanics, which is impressive for a VR game, and they are all centred on hunting, crafting, building, combat, healing, and much more.
For those who are unfamiliar with Green Hell VR, it's worth noting that Incuvo Games has a solid reputation in the VR community. It was recently acquired by People Can Fly after adapting Bloober Team's Layers of Fear and Blair Witch to VR. Incuvo Games is also developing a virtual reality version of one of the People Can Fly's games.
