Despite being considered superior to New World, Amazon's Lost Ark has had its own set of issues. The creators are presently dealing with a massive bot infestation that is wreaking havoc on the game in a variety of ways. As a result, some players have reacted inappropriately, forgetting that the developers are also human people. Amazon has restricted the use of VPNs in an attempt to fight the bot issue.
"We have placed blocks in place to prevent people from accessing Lost Ark using VPN providers," revealed one of the Lost Ark discussion forum's community admins. "This is one of the actions we're doing to fight botters since it will make it more difficult for them to connect to the game by circumventing some of the limitations we've put in place. (You may notice some population decreases today; this has proven for us that it is assisting in keeping certain bots out of the game for the time being.) "
The makers are aware that some players use a VPN to play the game legally, but it is against the Amazon Games terms of service, which declare, "You may not use any device or technique to hide or alter your location." Accounts will not be banned, but they will be unable to connect to the game to avoid any abuses.
The general reaction of the player base appears to be mixed. While some players supported Amazon's move and understood why it was necessary, others believe the creators should have found another method to minimize the number of bots in the game.
