On April 29, 2022, Sega will present the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio Super Talk Stage at
Niconico Chokaigi. While the event will take place on stage in the mega game area,
fans of the popular Yakuza franchise will be able to watch it online to prevent the
spread of the coronavirus and strive to reduce the risk of infection.
The presentation, hosted by announcer Atsuko Uchida, will feature the Studio
Director and Executive Producer of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio Masayoshi Yokoyama,
who will answer questions regarding the Yakuza franchise's past, present, and future?
You may even be able to hear about the future of Yakuza and numerous topics that
only the director of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio can answer! according to the event
description.
This follows the announcement that some key members of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio
had departed the organization to pursue other projects. Toshihiro Nagoshi, the
mastermind behind the Yakuza franchise, resigned in February. Shortly later, the
developer announced the formation of a fresh new firm, Nagoshi Studio.
Nagoshi has remained fairly secretive about his plans, although the developer was
prepared to provide a few hints. We're influenced by movies and want to make
games with a high level of human drama, Nagoshi explained. That's what we enjoy.
As I have stated, I intend to build games in that spirit that can reach a worldwide
audience. So you won't find us producing smartphone puzzle games or anything like
that. Those games are enjoyable, but what we excel at and what the public wants
from us are games with dramatic and compelling tales, and that is what we intend to
create. So that's where we'll be concentrating our efforts.
