Syberia: The World Before is perhaps the current edition in the Syberia franchise, and it was created
and released by Microids. On 18th March 2022, the game was launched for Microsoft Windows,
with platform editions arriving later in the year.
The storyline revolves around the 1930s era, where Daha Roze, a teen pianist with the similar concepts
Central European country of Osthethal (replicating a blending of the Czech Republic, Austria, and Kate
Walker, the main character of the Syberia installment, is jailed in a salt reserve mine in the Eastern
European province of Taiga in the 2000s. Dana performs the local song devoted to the town of
Vaghen, in which the nazi Brown Shadow faction (alternative to the Social Democrats) has begun
torturing minority groups and forcing them into slums. Kate Walker has been trapped as a slave
laborer in a mine shaft beside a young Russian lady named Katyusha Spiridonova following the
actions in the past book. A devastated Kate creates a partial collapse in the salt mine during their
excavating, exposing a similar cave harboring a Brown Shade task force rail. The two notice that
the train is full of art theft and artifacts, including a portrait of a lovely woman who looks strikingly
close to Kate Walker. They are accosted by their security guard, who shot Katyusha alive and is
wounded by Kate so that they can flee on the near bike. Katyusha wants Kate to find the girl in the
artwork with her dying breath. Kate flies to Vaghen in search of the antique shop where the
painting's music case was bought. Kate follows the route to a lonely hill shelter on the borders of
Vaghen, where she meets Leni Renner, an elderly sick. Renner reminisces about her time at the
refuge with Dana, who had arrived in the summertime to work as a waitress in 1937. At the time, the
shelter was holding an excursion in search of the Goran, a proto-human specimen. Leon Kovatsin, a
young alpinist who Leni is deeply charmed, leads the team. Dana and Leon start dating after a
confrontation with Herr Hoss, the Brown Mask officer in charge of the mission. According to the
critic, Syberia: The World Before garnered mostly positive reviews.
