Blizzard has officially announced in its recent live stream for the upcoming WoW expansion, Dragonflight, that The Wrath of the Lich King expansion is coming to the World of Warcraft Classic later this year.

This came as a big surprise, as all we expected from this live stream was just details about Dragonflight. But, Blizzard indeed had more planned, and it is not something we expected.

How to get this expansion?

No additional purchase is needed for this expansion. If you have an active World of Warcraft subscription, then you will get The Wrath of the Lich King expansion for free.

What will we get with this new expansion?

It will be the same as the original Wrath of the Lich King expansion that was released back in 2008. But, it will have new tweaks and improvements. There will be a new location, new enemies, new class, etc.

New Location - Northrend

The expansion will bring with it the icy continent of Northrend where players will fight against the undead Scourge, and take their fight to the Lich King himself atop of the Icecrown Citadel.

Lich King

Lich King is described as someone whose evil is a legend, whose power and malice are unparalleled. He is the Lord of the undead Scourge, and also the wielder of the Frostmourne, the cursed runeblade. The players will have to fight against him, and his endless army, and bring an end to his realm.

New Class

The Wrath of the Lich King will add the new Death Knight class to the World of Warcraft Classic. And, this can be created with no pre-requisites. With this new expansion, the level cap has been increased to 80. Furthermore, if you want to get to level 70 without playing the Burning Crusade Classic expansion, you can do it with the level 70 boost. This will require you to spend additional money, but details on this are not out there currently.

Dungeons and Raids

The original dungeons and raids that were added with Wrath of the Lich King will make a return. The players would be going against the reanimated lich Kel’Thuzad, assisting the dragons of Wyrmest Temple, and preparing for the final battle with the Lich King.

Inscription Profession

The players will be able to master the art of Inscription and use magical pigments, and inks to etch ​​powerful ability-enhancing glyphs, and craft magic-infused scrolls.
