The PUBG Mobile Esports circuit for 2022 is just about to begin. At the verge of the new Esports season, Tencent has introduced a new change, which has reshuffled the way the league stages shall be held.
Rules for one of the most important tournaments for PMPL (PUBG Mobile Pro League) has been changed. Instead of being held twice in a year by being relegated from season to season, the Pro Leagues for PUBG Mobile shall be held only once a year, featuring the massive prizepool of $ 5.3 million.
Earlier top teams from the PMCO (PUBG Mobile Club Open) were seeded into the PMPL, but come February 2022, Tencent along with PUBG Mobile decided to seperately host qualifiers for PMPL, where the best teams from each region would proceed to play the regional PMPLs.
Due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, Tencent for this year has cancelled the PMPL and PMCO tournaments for the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) region. The slots from these have been given over to PMPL Turkey and PMPL Western Europe.
This year's Pro League has also been added to two new regions, i.e., Pakistan and Africa. The top teams from PMPL Pakistan will advance to the South Asia Championship, while the top teams from Africa will move to the Middle East and Africa Championships.
This year's PMPL have had the addition of two new regions - Pakistan (in the South Asia Championship) and Africa (MIddle-East & Africa Championship), the top teams from these two countries moving ahead with competing against other countries in these two regional PMPLs.
A total of five regional championships shall be held this year either in the month of May or June, and the tournaments are as follows -
