Brandon Sanderson, author of the popular Mistborn series, the extension and conclusion of the Wheel of Time, and numerous other fantasy novels, maybe working on a project with Elden Ring publisher Bandai Namco in the future. Sanderson got a promo box from Bandai Namco on a recent edition of his stream, Live with Brandon Sanderson, which included a map of the Lands Between, a cloak, a wooden emblem of the late-game boss and de facto Elden Ring mascot, Melania, as well as an unsharpened broadsword. While Sanderson did not read the letter aloud, when a co-host inquired about its contents, he responded, "They are interested in possibly doing something together, is what that says, which I am as well."

Sanderson had previously expressed dissatisfaction at being passed over for work with FromSoftware in favor of George R. R. Martin, claiming that he had a stronger personal connection to the company's games as well as a greater understanding of videogames in general. Sanderson, on the other hand, appears to have moved on, speaking favorably of FromSoft and Bandai Namco's decision to work with Martin in a recent episode of his stream.

Sanderson has made no secret of his desire to work on a FromSoftware game. After George R.R. Martin's involvement with the studio for Elden Ring was disclosed, Sanderson joked that the publisher chose Martin "rather than the person who has played their games since King's Field, and has consistently placed their games in his top ten." Sanderson even revealed after inspecting the advertising bundle that he'd already developed a pitch for the studio and would have to send it over.

Bandai Namco would not be the first company to work with Sanderson on a video game. Kelsier from the Mistborn novels was added to Fortnite as a skin in May of last year. In addition, the author has cooperated with Wizards of the Coast on a short narrative for their card game Magic the Gathering. With Elden Ring still in the early stages of his career, it'll be a long time before we hear anything official about a FromSoftware-Brandon Sanderson cooperation. But it's difficult not to be enthralled by the prospect, even if it's only a glimpse of hope.
