Overwatch's annual Anniversary event, which will run from April 5 to April 26, will commemorate Blizzard Entertainment's hero shooter's sixth year in 2022. This year's event will feature new, remixed versions of fan-favorite Legendary skins, as well as past Overwatch brawls and challenge missions from prior seasonal events. Mage Mercy, a white version of her popular witch clothing, and Demon Genji, a white version of his Oni skin, are examples of variant outfits. Through battle challenges, fans will be able to win previously accessible but time-limited skins such as Nano D.Va, Bastet Ana, and Combat Medic Baptiste during April's Anniversary event. The upcoming Overwatch Anniversary Remix: Volume 1 event, which Blizzard is called Overwatch Anniversary Remix: Volume 1, does not appear to include any completely new skins. In 2022, Blizzard plans two more Anniversary celebrations for Overwatch, according to Blizzard.
On April 5, Anniversary Remix Vol. 1 will be released, bringing back a number of fan-favorite skins, some of which will be repainted. White is the primary color for Witch Mercy, Oni Genji, Black Cat D.Va, Cultist Zenyatta, Nevermore Reaper, and Blackhardt Reinhardt. Additionally, skins such as Bastet Ana, Combat Medic Baptiste, and Nano D.Va, which were previously only available through limited-time events, will be available as weekly challenges that need many games to earn. For whatever reason, Pink Mercy lovers, that skin isn't coming back.
Popular game modes such as the PvE Archives missions, the Rocket League-inspired Lucio Ball, and Mei's Snowball Challenge will all be returning, with new ones added every week. Anniversary Remix Vol. 1 will be available until April 26th, however, there will be two further Anniversary Remix events (each featuring six redesigned Legendary skins) between then and August. These events will take the place of the Archives, regular Anniversary, and Summer Games events that occur throughout the year, according to Blizzard. Overwatch's regular timetable has been disrupted for the first time in five years.
On the game's forums, Blizzard also revealed some details about future events, confirming that the three Anniversary Remix events will take the place of other Overwatch seasonal events.
Blizzard stated that "events like Archives, regular Anniversary, and Summer Games will not be returning this year." "Instead of the standard event schedule, the Anniversary Remix events will introduce a new set of variants, all of which will move to Overwatch 2 along with all previously acquired skins, sprays, and player icons."
"Thru this three-part anniversary event, our team will be able to devote more time and resources to the upcoming PVP beta while also giving the community the opportunity to obtain special variants of their favorite Legendary skins" Blizzard said.
