Unknown Worlds is aiming to grow its staff for the upcoming Subnautica universe project, thus a new entry in the Subnautica series is on the way. The studio's first-person survival game series has already shown off two unique locations on a single planet, but the details appear to hint at even loftier goals this time around.
The Subnautica series currently consists of two games, each of which allows the player to explore and live in a different location of the ocean-covered alien planet 4546-B. The first game took place in a beautiful tropical setting, whereas the second took place some years later in the planet's northern ice cap.
A job advertisement on Unknown Worlds' official social media details a position for a senior narrative designer, implying that the candidate will join extremely early in the game's development and have a significant impact on the tale. The tweet reveals that the game will be based in the same world as the original, but does not specify whether it will be a straight sequel or a spinoff. Because Subnautica is primarily narrative-driven, a new writer has the potential to take the series in unexpected ways. Interestingly, the posting mentions "a new science fiction universe," implying that the game may be set on a planet other than 4546-B.
We're seeking a Senior Narrative Designer to work with us to help shape the next game in the Subnautica universe! 🖊️🌌

Although survival games are a hugely popular genre, few games manage the survival components, as well as Subnautica, does. The added stress of time constraints caused by the need for air underwater, as well as the inventive yet credible alien planets, are difficult to equal, and the universe is ready for many more stories to be told in it. Although a new game may be years away, the present Subnautica entries have numerous mysteries that some players have yet to uncover.
