There were some rumours around the name of the upcoming FIFA game not having FIFA in it. And, now it has been stated by the insider Jeff Grubb on his podcast, GrubbSnaxx that the next FIFA game will not be called FIFA 23, and instead it will be called EA Sports Football Club. And, this is also the title that EA is using internally for the game.

FIFA games have always been popular among soccer, or football fans. However, when using such a brand name, there is also a massive amount of licensing expense that is revolving around it. From what Jeff said in his podcast, It seems that EA is done with that, and hence, it is getting rid of the FIFA tag from its name for the next game. EA believes that fans play the game for the game, and not the name. And, the fans will still get the game, regardless of the name being altered.

Another interesting thing that Jeff suggests is that FIFA will be making its own game, under the FIFA brand. However, there is not much that he has said on this matter apart from that. Not to mention, even the developer for that game is still not known.

This seems quite accurate, as it is also in line with what we heard last year when EA filed for a new trademark named EA Sports FC. At that time, many indeed speculated that this will be the name for the upcoming football games from EA. And, now it has been stated by Jeff Grubb as well. Not to mention, Jeff Grubb is a reliable insider as well, so there is no reason to have much doubt on this matter.
