As part of the latest update for the opening of Season 6, Sea of Thieves is saying farewell to its Arena PvP mode. This is undoubtedly a result of the lack of players playing in the game’s Arena mode, however, the official blog article outlines the complete reasoning behind the decision. In January, Sea Of Thieves Executive Producer Joe Neate discussed the Arena mode's shutdown, noting that the team's priorities were to focus on the core gameplay of Adventure mode. He did, however, admit the lackluster response of gamers to Arena mode, which was most likely a major factor in the decision to scrap it entirely.
User ChaoticVic shows a large group of like-minded pioneers going around the arena lobby in commemoration of the late great PvP action in a video posted to the Sea of Thieves forum. Players are reliving their time with the mode, waving goodbye to the arena, and writing anecdotes of their time playing it in the comments below the video.
Players in Sea of Thieves have celebrated the end of Arena mode by drinking, playing somber music, sending a slew of sorrowful emotes, and even executing a sad-looking pirate conga. But it's not all doom and gloom for pirates who enjoy some PvP. Players will have plenty of pirate pillaging and pillage to look forward to as Season 6 of Sea Of Thieves kicks off. Season 6 will bring a slew of new features to the game, including sea fortifications, new weaponry, ship parts, and cosmetic items.
