Ravensburger has announced the release of a new Villainous game set in the Star Wars universe. Star Wars Villainous: Power of the Dark Side is a new installment in the renowned Villainous video game series, which features six classic Star Wars villains. In a war for supremacy, competitors can select amongst Darth Vader, Asajj Ventress, Kylo Ren, Moff Gideon, or General Grievous. The well-worn Villainous combat engine will indeed be given a few unexpected twists in Star Wars Villainous, including the introduction of vehicles for the first time. Vehicles not only provide players additional choices or operations during their turn, but they can also interact with other vehicles in a variety of ways.

Despite the fact that Star Wars Villainous: Power of the Dark Side shares the Villainous brand with Marvel Villainous and Disney Villainous, each series is meant to stand on its own, with features that prevent crossplay. However, both Marvel Villainous and Disney Villainous have their own expansions, and if Star Wars Villainous is a success, it's probable that it will have its own expansion as well.

The player pawns, sometimes known as movers by the Ravensburger team, are one of the most remarkable components of the Villainous series. They show where each enemy is in the universe, as well as which powers have been utilized in past rounds and which powers are available for use in future rounds. Every box of Star Wars Villainous will include slightly different movers for the first time in franchise history. A new production method will give each one a subtly randomized aesthetic.

"From a technical standpoint," Webb explained, "they are made with a special colored powder that is incorporated into the base color and then swirled around." Then they bloom a little, giving us this very wonderful galactic impression." All of the pawns in this new game, like existing pawns in the Villainous franchise, will be translucent and cast a colorful light over the table during play. When you hold them up to the light, though, they sparkle with a "universe effect," according to Webb.
