Call of Duty's popular battle royale game- Warzone, is coming to mobile devices. On Thursday, Activision began posting job openings and publicising them on official Twitter accounts for the mobile edition of Call of Duty: Warzone. The job advertisements on the Call of Duty website are quite generic and do not provide a lot of information. Obviously, this is a version of Warzone that isn't available on mobile platforms, but they don't mention anything else.
This mobile Warzone, according to the announcement, would be a "large-scale, battle royale experience" built "natively for mobile with cutting-edge technology designed to excite gamers around the world for many years to come." However, it appears that the game is still in the early stages of development, as the post only lists a few job positions and no pictures, video, or even an expected release date. Activision hasn't said if the game would be similar to Apex Legends Mobile, which only allows you to play against other mobile players, or the mobile edition of Fortnite, which allows you to play against other mobile players. Activision did not respond to a request for additional information.
To support the ongoing development of Warzone mobile, Activision is looking to recruit a variety of positions across different internal studios. The mobile version's branding and terminology suggest it will be a tweaked version of the original PC and console game, but it's unclear how it and its player base will fit under Call of Duty's battle royale umbrella.
This may sound similar because there is already a Call of Duty battle royale game on mobile devices called Call of Duty: Mobile. Despite the fact that Call of Duty: Mobile is a part of the franchise, it was not created by Activision's in-house developers. Instead, the game is being developed by TiMi Studio Group, a subsidiary of Tencent and the studio behind Pokémon Unite. Call of Duty: Mobile was released in 2019 and has since become one of the most popular mobile games in the world.
