A new job listing on Bungie's page, suggests that the studio is actually working towards a new competitive PvP IP. Bungie has made lots of games and many of them have been super popular. They introduced the Halo series, and we all know how popular that is. But, now they are primarily popular for the Destiny series, specifically Destiny 2 as of now Talking of Destiny 2, it just got its latest expansion The Witch Queen, and it seems that the players are more than happy with what they got with it.
What is this new job listing at Bungie?
Recently, Bungie has posted a new job listing for Incubation Contract Level Designer on its Careers page. Now, it is the requirements, and nice to have skills they are seeking that lead us to believe that their new IP is going to be about competitive PvP. The listings state “experience working on character-focused third-person action games (platformers, isometric, etc)” as one of its nice to have skills. And, the other nice to have skill is “familiarity with the competitive gaming landscape/esports.” As for the required skills, it states experience in building and iterating upon a multiplayer level for a PvP game. Not to mention, the first paragraph of the description also states that Bungie is looking for a Level Designer that can contribute to a multiplayer action game that is currently in development.
So, what kind of game can we expect from Bungie?
Now, when you put all of these together, it becomes quite clear that Bungie is indeed working towards a multiplayer third-person shooter, which will also be a competitive PvP project. And, this sounds quite interesting to me. We all know how great of a multiplayer experience Halo games have, and that is also true for Destiny games. As a Destiny 2 player myself, I can vouch that it has one of the best shooter experiences out there. So, the fact that the same studio is working towards a competitive third-person shooter is quite interesting, to say the least.
