Sid Meier warns Monetization of games

Sid Meier, the creator of the Civilization franchise, states that mechanization is more important than monetization of games and believes companies can offer further if monetization is not the root of their evolution like microtransactions and NFTs. The financial paradigm that supports how the gaming industry generates revenue has altered substantially in the past few decades or two. Many developers and publishers now solely rely on in-game purchases to breed revenue rather than utterly relying exclusively on the upfront outlay of purchasing a ploy.
 

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are a type of digital art that players can procure and possess, and several game publishers are looking forward to incorporating them into their games. Several believe this is an unavoidable part of gaming's future and another mode for firms to revenue from gamers, but a ferocious backlash on social media has caused some to reconsider their fancy.
In comparison to all of the aspects that go along with designing a game, Meier asserts that figuring out gameplay is relatively affordable and does not necessitate as many chefs on the stove. On the contrary, it's easy to realize the importance of gameplay and game mechanics. "I think we need to make certain our team continues to be top-notch and playable," he added, "as there are so many avenues of amusement available these days.
Sid admits he has no intention to withdraw quite yet, even though the most gratifying development he's seen in his profession for more than thirty years is the broader populace's change of attitude about RPGs.
