When it comes to Football or Soccer (for America) video games, FIFA is undoubtedly the most prominent option out there. Just a few days back, we heard about the possibility of the next game by EA in this series not having FIFA in its name. This is due to the fact that EA’s license with FIFA was under review. This lead many to assume that the next football or soccer game from EA would not be a FIFA game. Well, that is in terms of the name. But, now it seems that it will actually be a FIFA game, and it will be called FIFA 23, just as all the previous FIFA games have been named. This information comes from Tom Henderson of xFire.

But, Tom covers a lot more than just the name of the upcoming FIFA game. He also talks about the changes that this new upcoming FIFA game will be having. One of these major changes will be Cross-play. This will be the first time that there will be cross-play functionality in a FIFA game. Crossplay would allow players on one platform to play with other players on different platforms. So, if your friends are on a PlayStation or an Xbox, and you are on a PC, you can still play the game together with them. This is something that would definitely appease many FIFA fans.

Then, Tom also states that there will be improvements made to the Hypermotion Technology that was first introduced last year with FIFA 22. According to Tom, this has been enhanced tenfold, and now requires the team to capture animations in real life from footballers in real matches using various cameras. This also removes the need for an Xsens suit. In a recent staff meeting, it was claimed that this technique allowed them to gather a hundred times more data from a single league season, than what they had managed to gather in the long 29 years history of the franchise.

All in all, it seems that there is a lot that EA has planned for its upcoming FIFA 23. Now, although we do know that the next FIFA game will be called FIFA 23. We do not know if that will stay true for the next games. That is something only time will tell.
