Wordle has taken over the internet by a storm and Twitch streamers like Pokimane are no exception. While playing wordle it is common to ponder whether a word is actually existent or not, and this was the case with her. Pokimane was bashed on Twitch for misinterpreting a word and wondering if it actually existed.
Just in case you're wondering, here's a short summary of Wordle if you aren’t familiar with it. Anybody can go to the website to play the game once every 24 hours having six chances to predict the day's word.
You may have seen the little red, amber, and green tiles shared in group chat or on social media and wondered what they were. Have you ever seen a coworker feverishly googling a list of 5-letter words? If that's the case, they're probably infatuated with the current game of choice: Wordle.
On the virtual keyboard, players select letters from the alphabet and enter them into the five blank tiles. They hit the submit button once they're satisfied with their 5-letter word guess. The word is then checked to find out if it or some of the letters guessed are correct. The full set of 5 letters turns green if it's completely correct.
The Moroccan-Canadian Internet personality, Pokimane, best known for her Twitch variety streams, where she broadcasts video games particularly League of Legends, Fortnite and is known to connect with her fans over just chatting sessions.
Pokimane started each Twitch stream with Wordle, and she was on her fifth guess with four of the letters displayed. Confused at this stage, she entered the word "other" but paused before pressing enter. "I'm not sure this is a word, bro”, she explained. "I'm going to be honest, is this a word?" said Pokimane.
As viewers frantically pushed the clip button, her chat erupted in hilarious emotes. On Reddit, there were films headlined "To think Poki was meant to be a chemical engineer" and "Poki shows off her English skills."
"How come you're laughing?" Poki exclaimed. "What's the big deal?" A few moments later, she recognised "other" was the word and claimed she had read it as if it was a misprint of "author."
For those who are curious, the correct answer was "other” and she won on her fifth guess.
