One of the recent reports from Bloomberg indicates that Call of Duty fans would not be too pleased in 2023, well, at least when it comes to the Call of Duty game for 2023. According to the report, it seems that there will be no new Call of Duty game for the year 2023. Since 2005, Activision has added a new premium entry to its popular shooting game series, Call of Duty. But, that is going to be changed in the next year, as it will be the first time in almost the last two decades that a new Call of Duty game won’t be released in a year. A Treyarch-developed Call of Duty game was indeed planned for 2023. But, it will now be delayed and released in 2024. At least, that is what the report is stating.

Well, fortunately, the delay is taking place only for the 2023 Call of Duty game. The Call of Duty game for 2022 is on its tracks, and it would be releasing this year for sure. For those of you who are unaware, Activision has a lot in mind for Call of Duty this year. The new Call of Duty game will be a sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019). But, that is not all. There would also be a sequel to Call of Duty: Warzone, which is free to play, and despite being two years old, is still one of the most popular online multiplayer battle royale games out there. We do not know if it will be called Warzone 2, but it will indeed be a sequel to that.

Anyway, to compensate for the lack of a new Call of Duty game in 2023, Activision would provide 2 years' worth of content updates for the Call of Duty Modern Warfare sequel that we are getting this year. Normally, Call of Duty games, except Warzone, have not received updates for more than a year. But, the 2022 Call of Duty would get two years of updates just to compensate for the lack of a Call of Duty game in 2023.

We just recently got into 2022, and 2023 is a long way to go currently. When it comes to this year, there would be no delays in terms of a new Call of Duty game whatsoever. It is just that there won’t be any in 2023, and that would be released in 2024. But, at least there will be new content that will be added in 2023, to the 2022 Call of Duty Modern Warfare sequel.
