The Destiny franchise has been out there for almost eight years now with the first Destiny game released back in 2014. However, after this many years it seems that the Destiny universe is far from being ever, and this year, 2022 will indeed be the biggest year for Destiny. As you all might have heard, Destiny 2’s upcoming expansion for this year is going to be Witch Queen and will be based on one of the most prominent characters in the lore of Destiny, Savathûn, the Witch Queen. And, it seems that there is a lot that Bungie has planned for this expansion.

There will be a new destination, new weapons, the addition of weapon crafting, new exotics, and most importantly, Hive with the power of the Light, and a ton of other never-seen before stuff. So much so, that Assistant Game Director, Robbie Stevens states that they have got more Destiny coming this year than any other year before. Now that is a very bold statement. He also adds saying that this is one of the most ambitious releases that they have put together and that the team is firing on all cylinders.

All of this comes from the new, pre-expansion video that provides detailed information on what we can expect from the upcoming expansion, Witch Queen. It delves into the background, and also what can we expect with this new expansion and certain bits of information on how it will play out. One of the important bits of information that we got to know is what will be the name of the first season of this new year, and expansion. The Season 16 of Destiny 2 will be called Season of the Risen and will be launching along with the new expansion, Witch Queen on February 22, 2022. So, less than two weeks from now.

As for the plot, as we stated before it will be revolving around the Witch Queen, Savathûn herself. The players would be allying with Empress Caiatl, who is currently the leader of the Cabal, an enemy faction of the past, whose request for an alliance was turned down by us before, but at that time we were influenced by the Witch Queen herself. Anyway, this time, the Cabal will be on our side against Savathûn and the new Light-powered Hive.
