During an interview with Killaz, Rockstar Games co-founder Jamie King spoke on the company's future, claiming that future releases such as Grand Theft Auto 6 may not be "as edgy or quite as humorous" as we've come to expect.

King believes that the gameplay mechanics will not change significantly, but that there will be a culture shift as a result of the studio's multiple exits.

GTA 6 could be extremely different in a few major respects from GTA 5 and previous iterations, according to Jamie King, who is no longer with the company. The Grand Theft Auto series is well-known for being a satire of America, and as a result, the franchise's DNA includes humor and edginess. Jamie King, the co-founder of Rockstar Games, believes that this will alter in the future, beginning with GTA 6.

It's unknown who King is still in communication with within the corporation, but this forecast isn't based on any kind of inside information. Whatever the case may be, King believes the firm will be different in the future as a result of a number of factors, including the tremendous success of GTA 5 and GTA Online, as well as the prominent departures the company has experienced in recent years. However, King has a hard time envisioning things shifting drastically enough for Rockstar to muck up the machine it has built.

"I wouldn't be surprised if the tone starts to shift, and if it's not nearly as edgy or humorous," King predicted. "I just think they have more chances to do something cheesy now because they never do. Isn't that true? Again, there's a lovely machine there that would take a lot of effort to f**k up, to screw up. Looking at the popularity of [GTA] 5, [GTA] Online, and [Red Dead] Redemption 2, I believe everything will be great. But I believe Leslie [Benzies] and Dan [Houser] are culturally and internally missing at both [Rockstar] North and [Rockstar] New York. There is, without a doubt, a distinction."

Although there has been a lot of rumors over the last few years, Rockstar Games has yet to officially reveal Grand Theft Auto 6. According to one recent report, the game would be released no early than 2025 and will include destructible skyscrapers.
