Despite the fact that PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, are all still in high demand, it appears that none of these systems were the ones to buy on Black Friday. Instead, it appears that on November 26th, a different winner was chosen, and that system was the Xbox Series S! Microsoft's all-digital platform was one of the best-selling things this year, according to the Adobe Digital Economy Index. Many variables are likely to have contributed to the Xbox Series S' success this year, but Business Insider attributed the console's good performance to its lower price point and ease of acquisition.
Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite are two games that could have contributed to the Xbox Series S's popularity. Since its release earlier this month, Forza Horizon 5 has been a critical and commercial success for Xbox. Microsoft also made a clever move by releasing Halo Infinite's multiplayer ahead of Black Friday, and it's not hard to believe that strong word-of-mouth contributed to system sales. After all, the Xbox Series S is reasonably priced, and both of those games are accessible on Xbox Game Pass.
Although the Xbox Series S is reasonably priced, it comes with certain drawbacks, including the lack of a disc drive. The system is somewhat less powerful than the Xbox Series X, and it only has a limited amount of storage space. Users can always buy a memory card, although they are still quite pricey (nearly as much as the system itself). Xbox Cloud Gaming, on the other hand, is now available on consoles, and this function eliminates the requirement for game storage.
Due to a worldwide shortage of semiconductors, the PS5 and Xbox Series X are currently extremely difficult to purchase. If the situation does not improve quickly, more players are likely to switch to the Xbox Series S.
