Since switching to seasonal updates for Sea Of Thieves, Rare has been delivering a tonne of new content as well as quality of life improvements that many players have been requesting. The Siren Shrines and Treasuries were added last season, allowing pirates to swim beneath the waves and explore underwater caves loaded with coral treasure.
Rare released a trailer for the forthcoming fifth season of Sea Of Thieves on their official Youtube account today. While it doesn't appear that we'll be getting anything as big as the Shrines, the game will gain one key feature that everyone has been asking for since the beginning: the ability to sit down.
Yes, pirates will be able to rest their feet - or peg legs - for the first time in a long time. Players will be able to sit in chairs such as the captain's chair aboard a galleon, according to the latest trailer.
This is clearly a huge step forward for the game, as the ability to sit is something that every game should offer by now. Even video game characters, after all, require a break from time to time. Rare even went so far as to include the option of lying down in a bed and napping, which has the extra benefit of helping you regain your health.
Season Five will also contain the ability to bury your riches like a genuine pirate, which is a game-changing feature. You'll be able to take any piece of loot and bury it in the sand on an island using your shovel. This will result in the creation of a treasure map that will show the location of the treasure. This can be used to conceal wealth from opposing crews or to pin the map to the new mission board that can be found at seaposts and outposts for other crews to discover. You'll gain recognition and reputation the next time you log in if other pirates steal your map off the task board and dig up your loot.
Flares and fireworks may be launched from your ship's cannons, you can flip your speaking trumpet around to whisper to your crewmates, adversaries will drop ammo pouches, and rowboats with cannons are all new additions.
There will be a slew of new cosmetic goods for both the free and premium Plunder Passes, as well as the Pirate's Emporium, including holiday-themed outfits and emotes, like in previous seasons. Because the Pirates Of The Caribbean cooperation doesn't seem to be coming to an end anytime soon, there will also be a costume set that will make your pirate seem like Captain Barbossa.
Get ready to spend some time sitting by the shore as all of this new content is going to arrive on the Sea Of Thieves on December 2nd.
