Over the last two years, Steam records have been broken on a regular basis. We didn't have much else to do besides sit at home and play games due to the Covid 19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown. In 2021, even games as old as Team Fortress 2, Rainbow Six: Siege, and Apex Legends broke concurrent records.

Since December 2020, Steam has shattered its own concurrent player record four times, and it has done it again. It happened last time in April, when 26.9 million people were online at the same moment. According to SteamDB, on November 27, 2021, there were 27,182,165 concurrent gamers online.

The typical suspects were mixed in with some surprises when it came to what people were playing to get to that figure. As of this writing, Steam's stats page says that CS:GO is in first place with a peak of 941K, followed by Dota 2 and PUBG with 680K and 341K, respectively. Apex Legends was fourth with 234K, and New World, everyone's favorite broken game, was fifth with 159K.

It isn't quite surprising to see GTA 5's at the number six spot, the remainder of the list could have been made up by anyone. The top ten games are Team Fortress 2, MIR4, Wallpaper Engine, and Naraka: Bladepoint. The current number of concurrent Steam users is 22,948,226; however, you can expect the record to be broken again soon. It's not unexpected that the number of concurrent players is growing with each passing month. The general audience is constantly expanding and becoming younger, and the range of games available is becoming more diverse and appealing to a wider range of people.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently one of Steam's best sellers. The game recently got a 50 percent discount. With more people playing it, the Recent Reviews section is currently "Very Positive" with All Reviews at "Mostly Positive". A lot of the reviews also say that the game now runs absolutely fine on PC.
