Another major esports competition will be held in Europe next month. The Rainbow Six Major 2021 will be held in Sweden for the first time, according to producer Ubisoft, who confirmed it earlier this month. The event was originally scheduled to take place in Asia, but because of current pandemic limitations, the organizers were forced to relocate.
On November, 16 of the top Rainbow Six Siege teams will compete for a grand prize fund of $500,000 and six Invitational points at the third and final Rainbow Six Major event, which will be held in Gävle. From the schedule to the prize pool, here's everything we know so far regarding the next Rainbow Six Sweden Major in 2022.
Schedule and structure for the Rainbow Six Sweden Major in 2021
The Six Sweden Major will follow the "similar competitive framework" as the Rainbow Six Mexico Major, according to a blog post on the official Rainbow Six esports website. The group stages will take place in a double round-robin format from November 8 to 10, 2021.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the playoffs, which will begin two days later, on November 12th, 2021. To set up the grand final, these teams will compete in a best of three elimination-style encounters.
Furthermore, Ubisoft has stated that the Six Sweden Major will be a “LAN event with no on-site audience and rigorous hygienic restrictions,” according to Ubisoft. This is done to protect the health and safety of all event personnel, professional players, auxiliary staff, and event partners who will be on-site throughout the tournament.
"We're presently working on the event's sanitary routine, following rules from health organizations and local authorities, and monitoring current situations to guarantee all necessary precautions are taken," Ubisoft said.
We're thrilled to unveil that the next #SixMajor will unfold from November 8 to 14 in Gävle, Sweden!
