We first heard about Payday 3 back in March 2021, when we got to know that Starbreeze has entered into a publishing deal for the new Payday game, which is likely to release in 2023. The game has been in development for quite some time now. But, till now, nothing was made public in regards to the development. But, that has changed now, we finally have got news of the development updates for the upcoming Payday 3. The first Payday game, Payday: The Heist was released on 18 October 2011. As part of its tenth anniversary, a new stream was published. This stream provided some new fresh insight into the plot of Payday 3. It also reveals that the cast of the original game is returning, and will be definitely set in New York City. Or, it might just be one of the settings, and there can be multiple settings, that remain to be seen.

As for the plot, Payday 3 is set after a few years of the events of Payday 2. The old cast of Payday 2, Dallas, Hoxton, Chains, and Wolf are forced out of retirement by some adversaries. In this time, the world has also moved into the digital age. The digital age definitely refers to the availability of a lot of new, futuristic gadgets. And, also means more ‘digital’ challenges. The crew will also be having to take care of the increased media attention.

Payday 3 will be starting in New York City, and Starbreeze wants to make the best they can out of this new large-scale setting. According to Game Director, Erik Wonnevi, the team is really trying to take the game into this large scale modern environment and make the players immerse into this lively city and everything it has to offer.
