It seems that Epic Games Store is finally getting one of its most requested features. It is the in-game achievements. When people compared Steam and Epic Games Store, one of the reasons that most had for preferring Steam over Epic was the presence of Achievements, an active community, etc. Now, it seems that Epic has heard all the prayers, and is now finally adding the Achievements system to the launcher.
Epic Games announced the rollout of the new AChievements system, along with new developer tools. Using these, the developers and the publishers will be able to activate the achievements for their games in the Epic Games store quickly, and very easily. And, all of this is happening the next week itself. So, we are quite close now. Epic Games says that starting next week, the players can begin collecting XP by earning various Epic Achievements in the select games. The achievements on the launcher are going to be categorized into three categories, Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Just as the name suggests, the higher the category the more XP you will be getting, along with the base XP for achieving that achievement. So, with Bronze players will be getting 4-45 XP, with Silver 50-95 XP, with Gold 100-200 XP, and with Platinum, it is 250 XP. So, that is a lot of XP to farm there.
Games that support epic achievements get a new page starting this release that allows you to track and share the progress you are making towards reaching goals. Also, both achievements and your progress for each game will now be displayed in your game library on the platform. Something to note here is that this new feature is different from the previously released Developer Achievements. Whereas the previously released Developer Achievements are, just as the name suggests, owned and controlled by the developers. Epic Achievements that are releasing next week are equivalent to the achievement system that you find on specific platforms, such as Steam, and other console platforms. This will be providing the players with additional benefits.
Currently, not a ton of games on Epic Games have support for Epic Achievements, however, as time passes by the support will be expanded to more and more games. Currently, it is going to be available for games such as Rocket League, Zombie Army 4, Hades, Humankind, etc. So, the chances of your favorite game having Epic Achievements next week are slim. However, be assured, that it will too be getting those later down the line.
