Bastion is a hero that many Overwatch players hate. Although it is modelled after a cute robot, its powers can be quite annoying. Especially, when it is covered by various shields, and has the support from healers. Not to mention, it can heal itself as well, and its sentry mode is one of the most annoying thing in the game. Anyway, now it seems that with Overwatch 2, Bastion is going to change quite a bit.

In the 2021 Overwatch League Grand Finals, Blizzard went over the changes that Bastion will be receiving in Overwatch 2. Firstly, there is going to be a big visual redesign. The new Bastion will be coming equipped with sleeker, and more modern materials, and also wearing a hat. That seems nice, the cute robot finally gets to wear a hat. However, the visual changes are not all that is happening. The abilities and even the ultimate of Bastion are going to be reworked as well.

As said before, in Overwatch, Bastion has a self-healing ability. In Overwatch 2, this ability will be replaced with that of a tactical grenade. These grenades can bounce off the walls, however, if thrown at an enemy or at the ground, it will stick to them. And, after a slight delay, it will be exploding dealing damage to the enemies, and also knock them back. Furthermore, there will be a big change to the weapon’s function int he recon mode. The fire rate will be reduced to half, however, it will be much more accurate, and also have reduced damage fall off. So, it would be a bit better for long-range. And, when it comes to the sentry mode, Bastion will have unlimited ammo, and now can move whle shooting, but damage is reduced by 40%. And, there will be a 10 second cooldown when switching between the modes. Not to mention, there is a 8 second transformation sequence as well.

As for the ultimate, currently, in Overwatch, Bastion turns to a tank. However, that would also be changed in OVerwatch 2. In the new Overwatch, Bastion’s ultimate will switch to an artillery configuration. In this mode, the players can select three different locations in a limited time frame. And, in these three locations there a bomb will be dropped. So, a bit like Brimstone’s ultimate in Valorant, but you can select up to 3 locations like Brimstone’s smokes.
