Overwatch 2 was announced almost two years ago at this point. Now, with time, more and more information has surfaced regarding Overwatch 2. This includes the changes in various weapons of characters, change in the team composition, change in the attributes of specific roles, etc. While the game is still not released, it seems that a release is very likely to take place in 2022. The reason why we are saying so is because of the new announcement that the next season of Overwatch League will be happening in a build of Overwatch 2.
Overwatch League’s 2022 season will be starting in April 2022 and will be completing on an early build of Overwatch 2. How do we know this? Well, it is thanks to a Blizzard spokesperson who told it to PC Gamer. And, from PC Gamer, we got to know of this. Overwatch 2 is going to bring lots of significant changes. One of the most significant ones however is the change in team composition. Overwatch games are played in a 6 vs 6 format. However, with Overwatch 2, it will be changing to 5 v 5.
Furthermore, with Overwatch 2 there will also be an introduction of a major new PvE mode. Overwatch is all about PvP, so it is quite interesting to see how that new PvE mode will be like. This PvE mode will not only help to distinguish Overwatch 2 from the previous Overwatch game, but also act as an expansion.
So, with the new, upcoming season of Overwatch League, we should be definitely knowing a lot more about Overwatch 2, and might also end up getting an official release date, who knows? But, considering that it would be used in the next Overwatch League definitely leads us to believe that it should definitely be releasing within a few months or so after the end of the Overwatch League 2022. So, although there is no official release date for Overwatch 2 as of now, it seems quite possible that the game would be coming out in mid-2022. Pretty exciting ain’t it?
