Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege is undoubtedly one of the most popular tactical, team-based, competitive FPS games around currently. And, it has been so for quite some time now. Hardcore players of the game often try to push ranks and get to as high as they can. Now, with this new season, it seems that reaching these higher ranks will be a lot easier than before. Especially, Platinum, and Diamon ranks.

The developers have noticed a very interesting trend among the players. According to this trend, a chunk of players that play ranked and manage to get to Platinum, tend to stop trying to push ranks, and reaching Diamond ranks. That is not something that the devs want. So, in order to make the players more motivated to push to  Diamond, after hitting Platinum, the team has now decided to reduce the MMR required to hit these ranks. The requirements for the ranks have now been reduced by a couple of hundred. The reduction is different for each rank, but overall, there is a reduction of a couple of hundred, except Platinum  III which has no change. Let’s go over the exact numbers now, shall we?

Firstly,  for the lowest Platinum rank, Platinum III the players will now have to get 3200 MMR, which is the same as last season. But, the ranks after this, are getting reductions, for  Platinum II the players will have to get 3500 MMR now, compared to 3600 before. As for the highest Platinum rank, Platinum I it is reduced to 3800 now, all the way from 4000 MMR. Then when it comes to Diamon, the reduction is even greater here. For Diamond, things are changing a lot. Before, there was just Diamond rank in itself. Now, like the other ranks below it, it will also be having subdivisions. So, Diamond III, II , and I. To get into Diamond, Diamond III the players will now need 4100. Previously the requirement for Diamond was 4400. Then, for Platinum II it will be at 4400 which was the previous requirement for Diamond rank. Then, for Platinum I, it will be 4700.

The reason for reducing the requirements for the ranks is, according to Ubisoft, providing the high-level players a greater sense of progression, and also keep them motivated to aim for the higher rank. The gap between Platinum and Diamon was too great, now the gap has been significantly reduced, and that is something that would definitely do what the devs want it to.

So, if you are one such player who has not managed to hit Diamond, then this new season will be perfect for you as you can hit it easily, well at least, easier than before, not easy in general.
