Dead By Daylight is a horror survival game that was launched almost 5 years back. Since then it has received lots of updates which include new characters, maps, etc. A lot of these new characters that got added are either popular horror games or horror media franchise characters. Stranger Things is a very popular sci-fi horror Netflix series. A few updates back, it got lots of content related to Stranger Things in the game. All of this came as part of the crossover update. Now, it seems that all of it is soon going to be removed from Dead By Daylight.
According to the publisher, Behaviour Interactive’s recent announcement, all characters and outfits that are related to this Stranger Things crossover will not be purchasable after November 17, 2021. However, another thing to note here is that starting August 18, 2021, there will be a 50% discount on the Stranger Things content such as the characters and the various outfits. This discount will be available all the way till September 8, 2021. With the exception of the Hawkins National Laboratory Map, all Stranger Things content including characters, outfits, and perks will remain playable if purchased before November 17th at 2 PM EST.
Players who already own Stranger Things content (or purchase it prior to removal) will continue to have access, with the exception of the Hawkins National Laboratory Map, which will be removed from the game entirely. Character-specific benefits and achievements will also be adjusted to be generic and therefore available to everyone, although if you've already unlocked them, they will remain as is.
This change in terms of the content available would be applicable on all platforms, Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, Stadia, Nintendo Switch as well as Dead by Daylight Mobile: Stranger Things.
So, this is quite disappointing especially when you consider how popular the Stranger Things franchise is. Dead By Daylight’s page also consists of a detailed FAQ page now answering various questions like why is it being made not available for purchase, etc. I recommend you checking out the FAQ up on that site to get more in-depth info on this new change for Dead by Daylight.
