There was a popular Portal-inspired FPS Splitgate schedule launch into 1.0 today, but that is not
happening much to the disappointment of gaming fans. The game has spent a couple of years in early
access and just at the point of release time, the date has been pushed back. Fans can now expect a release
sometime next month but not every news update in this regard is bad. The current open beta should
continue and there have been some big investment news coming in. The studio 1047 Games has received
10 million dollars from a venture capital firm to bring in strategic expansions to the development team.
The concern is about server issues cropping up and it needs to be solved.
Splitgate had its shares of struggles in the gaming world and they could not maintain the viable player
base post the initial early access back in the year 2019. However, just earlier this month, there was a huge
surge at the time of the beta launch along with added crossplay compatibility with Xbox and PlayStation
consoles. The increase was huge and more importantly unexpected. Such was the impact that 1047 Games
has indeed struggled to keep the game live over the past week. It was briefly taken off twice within a
week. This was done with intent so that the studio could focus on server optimization. They were
planning to get ready for today July 27th, the launch day.
The studio CEO Ian Proulx was all in praise for the Splitgate community and says that they were blown
away by the incredible reception. However, there was a steep increase in players who were trying to
access servers. This had led to a myriad of technical issues, which have risen from such insane growth.
The director admits that the server capacity is the biggest challenge that his team is facing for the game.
However, the team has lately received this inflow of cash from the venture capitalist and that should go a
long way to solve the problem. Ian takes the name of Human Capital as the name of the venture capitalist
firm and says that they are all excited. The investors are offering something more than financial help.
They will also help to build an engineering team and Ian says that together they are now focusing on
offering the best gaming experience to players. The news coming in that the Beta has been extended and
the game should be online quickly for fans.
