The open beta for Euro Truck Simulator 2 has been running since mid-June. Update 1.41 brings the previously announced multiplayer mode called Convoy into play. This also applies to the American Truck Simulator, where Update 1.41 is also just around the corner.

ETS2 and ATS: Multiplayer "soon"

We remember: Until now, fans of Euro Truck Simulator 2 (2012) and American Truck Simulator (2016) could at best drive together with unofficial modifications with functional compromises, but developer SCS Software wants the original single-player title with the "convoy" feature officially expanded to include a multiplayer component despite its age. The beta has been running since mid-June and the final release should take place "soon". A trailer has also been published that introduces some elements of the multiplayer.

Truckers can host their own multiplayer sessions - optionally with a password to only allow friendly players. Currently, this model supports synchronized AI traffic, time, and weather, as well as the ability to do the same job as other players. Up to eight gamers can play together in convoy mode. Anyone who hosts the convoy mode automatically becomes an admin and can, for example, set the environmental conditions or throw out troublemakers. Communication between the players takes place via CB radio (X button) or via text chat (Y button).

As the developer writes, "some interesting weeks full of tests" are behind them, and "great improvements" have been made. The time to "change gear and move forward" is almost here. The update 1.41 for ETS2 and ATS could be completed in a few days.
