AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution is something that tons of people had been waiting for. For those of you who are unaware, AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution is AMD’s answer to NVIDIA’s DLSS AI Acceleration. The way in which these two function is different, however, the end result which is perceived by the user is the same for the most part. Another advantage that AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution has over NVIDIA DLSS AI Acceleration is compatibility. Whereas NVIDIA DLSS AI Acceleration is compatible only with NVIDIA RTX cards, the AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution is compatible with not only AMD, but also NVIDIA cards, and can also be used on older cards.

Last month we saw the release of AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution. However, on release, there were only a bunch of games that supported this feature. Although, there was a multitude of games that are confirmed to get the support for this feature later down the line, and some games such as DOTA 2 have already got the support for it.

Now, the AMD FSR universe is expanding. The source code for this special feature has now been made available to everyone with the GPUOpen platform. What does this mean? Well, this means that more people, especially developers and modders, can implement this feature in a lot more games.

So far, from what we have seen AMD FIdelityFX Super Resolution does an amazing job. Granted it is not as good as NVIDIA’s DLSS AI  Acceleration, but it’s free and is widely compatible as well. To make things even better, now it is also open-source, so we can see it being used on a lot more games soon. Not to mention, AMD has also announced four more titles that will be having support for AMD FSR.

So, all in all, the future is looking really bright for AMD FSR. It makes me think that the number of games that it supports will soon be increasing even more, and definitely be available on a lot more games than NVIDIA DLSS AI Acceleration.
