It was during the Final Fantasy 14 that there was a live letter from producer Naoki Yoshida. The letter
contained some new details about the next mainline entry into the series. Naoki states that his team has
finished the main story of Final Fantasy 16. He also says that the English voiceovers are almost done
being recorded. However, there was also some disappointment in his letter briefing the media. He regrets
that despite making extensive progress that the game will not make an appearance at the Tokyo Game
Show 2021. The TGS 2021 event is scheduled to take place from September 30th to October 3rd.
This last bit of update regarding the inability to participate in the TGS 2021 was not mentioned in the
letter. This is some information, which we picked up from a translation via the r/FFXIV Discord channel
It was a conversation between Yoshida-san and Nier director Yoko Taro during the livestream. There
were twitter interpretations of Yoshida’s speech and says that the next time, he intends to show the Final
Fantasy 16 when it is ready.
It is an experienced hand working on Final Fantasy 16 and it is none other than Creative Business Unit
III. This is the Square Enix development team behind FFXIV. This game will be the next major single-
player entry in the iconic RPG franchise. It will be coming soon to PS5. Yoshida is both the director and
producer for FFXIV, but for Final Fantasy 16, he has given the director’s hat to someone else. We have
already taken mention regarding another director for this game earlier.
We were lucky to have an insight into the trailer for Final Fantasy 16 and it was a rather lengthy one. It
was good and it showcased a bit of gameplay. There was something more than just the trailer launch for
fans. Square Enix also launched a website for Final Fantasy 16 and it offered an in-depth look at the
world. It was exciting to take a look but there was no release date still assigned. It will not be coming
before October and that is why we say that it will miss TGS 2021. Our sources in the gaming world tell us
that 2021 could be off the table. At this moment it is marked as PS5 console exclusive. It will not be a
cross-generation game and PS4 players will need to shift in the quest to play it. This is all we have until
now for this game.
