Quake Champions is by far the latest installment of the popular Quake series of video games. The original Quake was a classic, and it indeed had a big impact on the whole team vs team FPS genre. It brought extremely fast-paced combat, futuristic weapons, and most importantly, a FPS experience that back then was one of a kind. Now, Quake is having its 25th Anniversary, and as a homage to the very first Quake that got released back on 22 June 1996, some interesting things have taken place. Quake Champions now has a map that was available in the original Quake.

As a homage, we are getting Quake 1’s DM6: The Dark Zone. For those of you who are unaware, DM6: The Dark Zone is considered to be one of the series’s best multiplayer maps. It came as part of the game’s big Summer 2021 update and is a direct port of the original map of Quake 1. It is full of the original textures, teleporters, and even item placements. So, all in all, what it will deliver is just the experience as it did back in the original Quake game.

The map is not all that id is doing for the Quake’s 25thh Anniversary. Along with the map, there is also a lot of legacy content such as Quake 1 weapon skins for various weapons. This includes skins for weapons such as the Triblot, Super Nail Gun, etc. Furthermore, there will also be various banners on all the maps that will be commemorating the 25th Anniversary.

So, yes all in all, there is a lot of stuff happening in order to celebrate Quake’s 25th Anniversary. Quake Champions is free to play as well, so for those who wanted to get a taste of the original Quake 1’s map in the Quake Champions now is the time. There is a 3.8GB update which does not only add all of this new content but also brings with it a lot of bug fixes, as you would expect.
